SAFECY

Educating Safe Cycling in European School

Project Number:  ES01-KA220-SCH-000032789

Road safety is a European issue: According to the European Safety Council (ETSC), 19,450 cyclists were killed on EU roads between 2010 and 2018. There is a considerable need to reduce the amount of bike-related accidents in the UE and make EU roads more bike-friendly. Cycling is a great investment plan for the European Union, as it has many positive externalities: reducing air pollution, bettering the mental and physical health of European citizens, reducing traffic jams in the EU cities, and increasing workers’ productivity as they will spend less time in traffic jams…

SAFECY focuses on helping teachers educate youth on safe cycling, SAFECY centers its activities in the development of interactive and innovative contents based on the Creation of an Applied Creativity Lab Guide.

Project Objectives

  1. The first objective is to form and educate European Youth to be safer, more conscious, and more responsible cyclists and future drivers in order to reduce the number of bike-related accidents.
  2. The second objective is to give teachers, formators, and coaches the necessary tools to teach youth how to become safe cyclists in a fun and innovative manner
  3. The third objective is to promote and impulse-cycling among youth across the EU by creating content that will be easily accessible and understandable for both formators and students

Project Result

PR1: Needs Assessment and Creation of an Applied Creativity Lab Guide

  1. Report on the needs related to safe cycling of each country involved in the project
  2. Creation of a Guide (Applied Creativity Lab guide) to support teachers, educators and trainers in educating young people about road safety.
