Meeting with Juan Ruiz

It is important to challenge misconceptions about people with disabilities because they often lead to discrimination, exclusion, and negative attitudes towards individuals with disabilities. Misconceptions can create barriers to social, economic, and political participation and limit the opportunities available to people with disabilities.

On 21 December, members of VAEV met with Mr Juan Ruiz, one of the few Perceptual Navigation Instructor for World Access for the Blinds in the world and a proud advocate, working with blind students from all backgrounds in #Vienna and around the world.

Including people with disabilities in sports can challenge stereotypes and misconceptions about what people with disabilities can and cannot do, promoting a more inclusive and accepting society.
