Social entrepreneurship for inclusive active leisure and sports

SPORTS INC. aims to promote the social inclusion of people with disabilities and special needs by connecting them with opportunities in inclusive sports and leisure activities. The project targets entrepreneurs and civil society organizations, providing support and knowledge to start or transform businesses in the sector. Through raising awareness, accessible learning, and support for social enterprises, SPORTS INC. aims to align business strategies with the goal of fostering confidence and social impact.

Project Objectives

SPORTS INC. aims to develop a learning program for entrepreneurs in the sports and leisure sector and civil society organizations. The program focuses on creating inclusive products/services for people with disabilities, benefiting entrepreneurs and organizations. The project aims for widespread use and sustainability, benefiting individuals with disabilities and promoting communication among education centers and supporting organizations.

Target Group

1. (Prospective) entrepreneurs wanting to set up a business in the fields of inclusive sports and leisure.​
2. Existing entrepreneurs in the field of sports and leisure who want to make a turn-around and make a social impact through changing their current activities towards inclusiveness​.
3. Civil society organisations working with and for people with disabilities, who want to set up their social enterprise​.

Project Result

R1: SPORTS INC. ​Curriculum & Syllabus​

The R1 aims to upgrade the already carried out preliminary analysis (during proposal writing and preparation) and gain a detailed knowledge about existing practices and examples related to entrepreneurship and business innovation related to inclusive sports and leisure, and map existing related training offers. This allows to identify the skills gap and define an innovative curriculum for the identified main target groups.​

R2: SPORTS INC. Programme

Based upon PR1, the SPORTS INC. Programme is developed, which will provide the target groups with the skills and competences to start a venture in inclusive sports and leisure or to turn around an existing business, and understand both the implications of offering services for persons with disabilities and special needs, as well as the business related aspects to be taken into account.​

R3: SPORTS INC. Action Plans​​

Aim is to develop the tools and templates which allow the prospective entrepreneurs in the field of inclusive sports and (active) leisure; as well as the existing entrepreneurs, business owners and managers of the sector to ideate, and develop and eventually implement the inclusive sports or leisure activity, and evaluate its impact on the business ​and end-users.​
